Pre-Timber Harvest Walks
NEFF
offers community tours through our woods before each
timber harvest. Neighbors and interested members of the community are invited to
come and learn about what is planned on each property.
Participants learn why specific trees will be harvested, how
to identify a wide variety of tree species in the
forest, and how removing some trees promotes the
growth of others. Over the past few years, NEFF
has hosted nearly 30 walks
in New England.
Timber
harvesting is an important part of NEFF's land stewardship program. Sustainably
managed forests provide wildlife habitat, clean water, clean air and
recreational opportunities for community residents. Each timber sale
brings many positive changes to the forest.
